What is Hive Christian Academy?

  • We know that education is a major concern for all families with children. We want Christian families in Erbil to find an excellent educational opportunity that will both help them parent in a way that pleases God as well as provide a quality and trustworthy education for their children. We want parents to know that there are good opportunities for their families in Erbil.

  • In September of 2022, we will open the school for any international (non-Iraqi) students between the ages of 3-12 whose families ascribe to HCA’s Statement of Faith.

Students will need to be able to speak English at an upper-beginner level and be able to perform at an appropriate grade level academically and behaviorally. Unfortunately at this time we are unable to accommodate students needing an IEP (Individualized Education Program.)

Because it is a pilot program in the Erbil region, we will be unable to accept students with an Iraqi passport as we will not have the capability of providing transfer papers in accordance with the local educational system.

  • The school will use a Hive model. This model will have three required school days each week (Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday) and two optional extracurricular days each week (Tuesday and Thursday.) On these optional days, students will complete at home work with teacher guidance as well as participate in experiential field learning opportunities.

HCA utilizes a very parent-focused school model. We want to encourage and support parents as they lead their families. We want to see parents involved in their children’s education and feel confident in discipling their children according to God’s Word.

  • Tuition for the school year will be a flat rate of $5,000. Payments can be made monthly ($500).

This is an all-inclusive tuition which covers the students’ tuition, uniforms, and lunches. There will not be additional costs for enrollment, textbooks, exams, or lunch services.

  • We are still finalizing the curriculum packet for 2022-2023. We will be using Christian, Gospel-centered curriculum for most subjects (the current exception is math curriculum.) Students will participate in multi-age classrooms and will have the opportunity to learn from a Gospel-centered worldview. All teaching will be in English with the exception of the foreign language class.

Students will be assessed upon enrollment for their appropriate level based on several factors, and then placed in the appropriate class for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • We will be providing transcripts for each students’ work. For the 2022-2023 school year, the school will not have the capability of providing KRG Educational papers required for transfer among Kurdish schools in the region.

The school plans to be certified by an American certification board and able to grant American Diplomas by the year 2027 for graduating seniors.
